A healthy coaching culture

5 years later, what difference has the coaching course made?

Seán runs a social enterprise, called Third Space café and catering. Part of the ethos of the business is to develop and train employees towards transformation.

Seán had been curious about coaching, and had started to read a few books and employ some of the techniques he’d read about. Then he saw Innovista’s coaching course advertised in our newsletter.

The coaching course equipped Seán with coaching conversation skills, and practice with other leaders. He had the chance to lead coaching conversations, and be coached himself.

5 years later

5 years on, Seán says he definitely still uses what he learnt on the course every day. He says, “It’s not coaching in a formal setting, but just in the day to day business, I’m having coaching conversations. We’ve been able to create a healthy coaching culture.”

He also sent one of his managers on the coaching course. He and his business partner have coaching conversations with the 3 managers, and encourage them to have similar conversations with their own teams.

As a result, coaching has become part of the modus operandi of the business. Coaching conversations are scheduled into the diary, but also happen spontaneously.

People notice it

It’s even been noticed by their customers! Seán was recently having a conversation with an customer about their future plans. He explained, “The customer told me that I ask difficult questions. I take that as a compliment!”.
